Fiero Milano is looking for new markets

After Italy summer sales failed it became clear that one could hardly call the country situation successful, happy and serene one. Hence the recent events provoke an unfavorable atmosphere for Fiero Milano’s pavilions where its models were presented in the framework of Macef International Homeware Salon’s 85-th edition. Because of the demand decrease the sales reps felt that cheerless market situation and their concern about the future was seen in their behavior.

The atmosphere of disappointment reigned in the pavilions in spite of Macef organizers promising assurances. Paolo Gallasi, Fiero Milano International president, confirmed that organizers and enterprises had worked hard to attract consumers and to increase the demand by new interesting offers implementation – really innovative, beautiful, elegant models had been presented at the fair. The president also added that they would continue developing and using new marketing methods and projects together with agencies and for them to attract more visitors and buyers. Of course there is a great amount of innovations but it happens very often that the supply exceeds the demand. As a result an activity decrease comes.

We can see it on the household linen and textile clothes branches example — these two sectors has already lost their leading positions among all other participants of the fair. Nevertheless this phenomenon can be hardly noted even if we look through the exhibition figures and the number of visitors attracted.

More than 75 thousand operators including 10 per cent of foreigners from Europe, China, India, Central and Southern Africa have visited the latest 85 edition of Macef International Homeware Salon. Nevertheless, the household linen sector was not widely presented at the fair. We should mention Anna Boccali, Federighi, Gemitex, Ghera-Tex, Lino Russo, Maison Claire, Selezione Tessuti Arredamento. One of those that is worth to be noted was Cogal. Its new fun collection of towels with the popular “Smiley” face logo presented at the Macef exhibition drew the visitor’s interest. Manifattura Besana distributed new models from Napkin and all of them are worth of attention.

It combines the super compressed micro-towels with a new collection of pajamas, dressing gowns and beach towels. All models are made of pure 100% honeycomb cotton and packed in small packs that are not bigger than a CD box.

Coming up: Macef Spring Edition that will take place from 16 to 19 of January, 2009 and the Autumn Edition that will take place from 4 to the 7 of September, 2009.
